PASS Journey
Following a competitive recruitment process in 2019 and initial orientation and familiarisation activities for PNG participants in Port Moresby, Australian and PNG participants from selected schools came together in PNG in September-October for a joint learning activity focused on establishing their school partnerships and again in Australia in November for a joint learning activity focused on growing and strengthening their school partnerships.
Strong foundations and great goodwill have been established between PNG and Australian partner schools participating in the initiative in 2019. In order to keep this momentum growing throughout 2020 and 2021, despite COVID-19 travel restrictions preventing face-to-face learning activities to occur, we ran a number of online projects and activities as well as offering professional learning courses to continue to strengthen the school partnerships and the PASS community.
In 2022 and 2023, PASS continued to strengthen the enduring friendship between PNG and Australia. Phase 2 of PASS provided the opportunity for PASS school teams to participate in online learning activities including, Educator Professional Learning Activities for PNG and Australian teachers, coaches and leaders, Student Learning Activities for PNG and Australian students, and Collaborative School Projects that could be undertaken by individual schools, school partnership teams or multiple school partnerships. Phase two delivery also saw in-person professional learning programs in Australia and PNG.
The timelines below outline key activities held in 2019 to 2023.
