DESCRIPTION:
In partnership with the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), AEF is excited to offer PNG and Australian students (Year 9-11) a creative, collaborative activity exploring the power of art and design to inform positive change in the world. This project brings together the environment, local and global issues and STEM. By creating their own unique posters for change, students will contribute to a virtual exhibition inspired by what’s happening in their own communities and the world more broadly. Learning outcomes include student agency, communication, creativity, media literacy, digital skills, collaboration and intercultural understanding.
We Change the World can be undertaken in individual schools or in school partnership teams. This collaborative project is suitable for PNG and Australian secondary school students (Year 9-11) and secondary school teachers, especially Arts and English.
LEAD:
We Change the World is led by Leah Santilli based at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).
The NGV is the oldest and most visited gallery in Australia. Situated over two magnificent buildings – NGV International and NGV Australia – the Gallery hosts a wide range of international and local artists, exhibitions, programs and events; from contemporary art to major international historic exhibitions, fashion and design, architecture, sound and dance.
Leah Santilli is an Outreach Educator at the NGV. She is involved in the planning and delivery of learning programs for students and adults across many NGV exhibitions including the NGV Triennial 2020, the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition, French Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Japanese Modernism, as well as areas of the permanent collection. Leah is also involved with School Support Programs at NGV, facilitating Outreach visits to schools across metropolitan Melbourne.
